Many Peace Haven Family Dentistry patients are opting for a faster treatment to a whiter smile. In-office tooth whitening procedures are becoming more popular each year. If you want the best results in the shortest amount of time, in-office tooth whitening may be the best solution for you!
Perhaps you don’t have the time or the patience to whiten your teeth at home. That’s okay. Our dentists can get better results for you much faster! And our in-office tooth whitening typically requires just several office visits!
Some tooth stains respond well to in-office tooth whitening procedures:
- Food (mustard)
- Beverage (coffee, tea or soda)
- Aging or worn teeth
- Heredity
- Tobacco use
If your tooth staining is the result of another issue, please discuss this with your Peace Haven dentist. We’ll help determine the best tooth-whitening options for you.
How is in-office tooth whitening different?
Professional, in-office tooth whitening has recently become a popular cosmetic dental procedure. It’s also considered a safe form of teeth whitening that produces better, faster results!
Peace Haven patients experience a much faster result than from any at-home treatment available. In addition, gum and tooth sensitivity issues can be more closely monitored and controlled.
What can I expect during my in-office tooth whitening procedure?
The entire tooth-whitening procedure is carefully supervised by your Peace Haven dentist. This allows for a safe, controlled, highly concentrated application of the whitening agent. So you won’t have to worry about errors with self-application, such as using too much or too little solution or leaving it on too long—or not long enough.
Your Peace Haven dentist will apply a stronger whitening agent than is available over the counter or through a dentist-provided, take-home treatment. Because the whitening agent is much more concentrated, we will also use either a gel or a rubber shield to protect your gums. Once the whitening agent is applied to your teeth, a special light or laser may be used to accelerate the effects of the whitening agent.
Is in-office tooth whitening right for you?
We recommend that you discuss your tooth whitening needs with your Peace Haven dentist. Then we can help you choose the best dental solution for you. Our in-office tooth whitening procedure is both pain free and comfortable.
People with the following conditions should probably not have a tooth whitening procedure:
- Pregnancy
- Nursing
- Gum problems
- Untreated tooth decay
- Sensitive teeth – Talk to your Peace Haven dentist first.
- Deep, permanent staining
- Transparent teeth
How long will my in-office tooth whitening results last?
In-office tooth whitening and other tooth whitening procedures are not permanent. Tooth whitening procedures work only on the tough outer surface of your teeth, the enamel. If you continue to drink coffee, soda or tea, for example, your teeth may show new staining. So you may need periodic home-maintenance treatments to keep your teeth beautiful and white.
